TV on My Computer

by GeeksGab on July 29, 2010

It really is amazing when you think about the information that we have available to us today with our computers. Technology that would have almost seemed like magic a few years ago has now become a reality. The information streams of the world seem like they are opening up for everyone to tune into.

For example, you can now watch TV on your computer and have access to thousands of channels from all around the world. I wish I knew about this a few years ago back when I was desperate to watch the Rugby World Cup from my desk, man did it hurt missing those matches.

I always wondered why we couldn’t have access to satellite TV from other countries, after all the satellites are in space, the information is there. Surely there must be a way to access it for everyone. Well, guess what, there is. It’s not only sport though, it’s literally thousands of the TV channels from all over the world that we can now tune into with the help of the Internet. Kids T.V, movies, news, you know, T.V in all its glory.

It really doesn’t make mush sense to be tied in to a monthly contract with just one T.V subscription provider, when there is tons of material out there just floating on the airwaves waiting to be picked up. All you need is a computer with access to the Internet and your ready to go, really amazing. I know what your thinking, but no, actually this can be done 100% legally, absolutely no shady business has to be involved at all.

With access to high speed digital networks in our homes and offices, it really makes sense to use them to access T.V. Internet speeds are getting faster all the time and video sites like YouTube have become some of the most popular on the Internet. Soon I think we will see a total convergence of media, with television and the Internet moving closer together to a point where they can’t be easily separated.
